US FED Funds Rate

Yellen's remarks last week cemented the odds for a March rate hike pushing it close to 100%, after a string of hawkish comments from various Fed officials.
But until recently, the expectations for a March hike were very low. Why did the odds increase drastically in the last two weeks? Have the economic forecasts improved all of a sudden to warrant this change of stance? Or is the Fed's desperation not to fall behind the curve driving this rate hike?
With the U.S. GDP growth rate for 2016 at 1.6%, the Trump quoted 3% growth seems distant. Agreed, the fiscal stimulus can boost demand, but at full employment, it is doubtful if this demand translates into real growth. Also, given the "anticipated" possibilities of favourable economic policies and future growth, it remains to be seen if the March Fed hike, if it happens, will be supportive of the markets.
What happens to the stock markets now? Usually, rising rates are not good news for the equities, but the hike, if it happens might not hurt the markets, at least for now. Mostly because the markets are looking at rate hike as a sign of improving economy and normalisation of policy from the ultra low rates.
But its definitely the time to ride the wave of high optimism with lots of caution. Read more about the US markets here: http://hubs.ly/H06zvtz0

$NVDA Continues To Sell Hard, Institutional Traders Look For This Level

After talking to mutiple institutional friends, and analyzing shares of NVIDIA Corporation(NASDAQ:NVDA) myself, the expect ultimate target for downside is $72.00. Basically, every top trader I have spoken to has said, long term investors should be careful buying until the $72 level is reached. Aggressive traders can be shorting every bounce until that level is reached as well. The stock has done a 180 degree and now has major institutional selling. Buyers be ready at $72.00

How to deal with STOPLOSS and sell in market IN options which does not support it?

Hello Friends,

So today i made a loss of 7k  in options trade.
I was dealing with options for last couple of days with luck and profit as high as 4.5k.

The reason i dealt with options is: 1) Low brokerage as cost depends on premium which is very less compared to actual share price 2) Huge lot = huge profit (can also become huge loss like i had today )

The reason for the loss is, the base share turned against me quite quickly AND THERE WAS NO auto STOP LOSS with sell in market which can be set in tradetiger for options.

For futures or equity, it's easy - set a stop loss and sell at market. But in OPTIONS, it doesn't allow:
(1) Setting stoploss
(2) Sell at market (you need to put some price manually)
(3) If suppose you set a stoploss at some price - the previous profit booking price gets overwritten with this (No 2 advance orders for same option sell at same time).

The next problem with options is, if price is against you, people bid at a very different price than what it should be - letting your order get pending. (example: If market price for Call Option Reliance is say, 15.5, and the price is coming down, people bid for lets say 14 - and your order remains pending, till the price drops to 14 incurring further loss :annoyed: :annoyed:

Dear experts - How do you folks deal with it?

Kindly suggest.
Thanks a lot in advance.

Short position (delivery) not covered

Hi,

2 days back, I shorted Wockhardt and instead of going for the intraday option, I selected delivery option by mistake ( I use IIFL).

Now that there is a short delivery of 50 Wockhardt, what should happen now?

Can I cover this short delivery with a new buy 'delivery' order of 50 shares? Or, should I just leave it as it is and the whole thing will go for auction?

Cheers!
Gaurav

i use alerts that throws alerts every 5 mins and in order to get the latest alert I keep clicking on the "date" column of automatic analysis in order to sort the latest alerts and all will be fine till 12.59pm & after that when i sort date i don't get the latest alerts (eg. 1.05 pm, 1.20pm, 1.50pm etc alerts) on top & instead the last alert at 12.59 pm just stays at the top. hope i have explained correctly. would be grateful if anybody could help me out please.

Regarding closing SIP after 1 year

Hello Everyone,

I have few queries related to closing SIP after exist load limit i.e. after 1 year completion.

Suppose If I have investing 2000 rs in any mutual fund through SIP from 1 year. Can i add lumpsum amount in the same sip at any time as a additional amount and sip of rs 2000 will also be continued?

If yes , then lets say I have added 50000 RS. as a lumpsum amount in same sip just before completing 1 year, as that mutual fund return is around 20% for theat year. So can I close my SIP after completing 1 year considering I will not need to pay exist load amount as I have completed 1 year.
So will I get return of 20% on my whole sip amount 74000 rs i.e. 2000*12 +50000= 74000. ??

Thanks

MA crossover AFL

Hai
Can anybody provide amibroker AFL (or any link) for the following condition :
If ma(c,50)is greater than ma(C,200) , then whenever ma(C,5) crosses ma(C,20) to upside, it should give buy signal and exit buy should be given when ma(C,5) crosses ma(C,20) to downside . Whenever again ma(C,5) crosses ma(C,20) to upside , it should again give buy entry.
Vice-versa should be in case of sell signal .
It would be of great help.

$BAC Stock Has Started Its Correction, Investors Need To Be Ready To Buy Here

On Thursday, shares of Bank of America Corp (NYSE:BAC) fell just over 1%. This drop is nothing significant to the average investor, but to the trained pro trader it is huge. You see, The stock opened higher and sold off, closing at the lows. The reversal in price engulfed the previous day's price action. This is an extremely bearish signal in technical chart investing. In addition, the price of the stock is now over 40% above its daily 200 moving average, a feat that has not occurred historically, and shows a major overbought scenario. Whether Dodd-Frank is repealed or not, Bank of America is going to correct and correct hard. Within a week, it will likely fall to a major support of $23.15.

$JCP At Double Bottom Support, Earnings Were Not Bad Either

Last week J C Penney Company Inc (NYSE:JCP) reported earnings that were not horrible, unlike many other retailers. The stock was already trading near 52 week lows and has held up well, also unlike many other retailers. I believe this to be the sleeper pick of all the retail sector. It is currently trading just above a major double bottom support level at $6.00. The reason it has not rallied sharply on earnings is because investors fear a tariff on imports imposed by President Donald Trump. Based on the earnings and stock chart support level, I would nibble here and am nibbling here.

Stock investing for DUMMIES

This is a NOBRAINER trading strategy.
I cannot employ any type of analysis (technical/fundamental).
I cannot follow right scrip for trading because of my little knowledge and available time.
Still I want to try my hand in stock market.
I believe certainly I will be able to generate better returns than Bank Deposits.
Hence I have chosen NIFTYBEES which follows NIFTY INDEX.
I can choose any other aggressive ETF, but as I cannot follow them, I have chosen this, Lazy fellow!

Buy NIFTYBEES when it breaks recent high, sell when it breaks recent low.
When selling, close NIFTYBEES and park your money in GSEC ETF like LIC MF G-sec LT ETF
My assumption it will not loss its value.

I started a thread by name"NIFTYBEES trading strategy"
I felt this thread heading is apt. Hence I am continuing here.

My initial capital will be Rs 100000.00.

On 2/2/17 NiftyBees was available for Rs 887.00.
100000/887=112.7 ~112.00
Hence I bought 112 shares of NiftyBees @ 887.00 at an investment of Rs.99344.00

Date 03/03/17

Latest Position

Snapchat's IPO. First day results

Snapchat finishes its first day of trading on the NYSE at $24.48,about 44% higher than its price of $17, at a market cap of $28bn, Ok, another tech mega IPO with a lot of expectations - but what now - does it go north or south from here? Some pointers:
1) User base growth is shaky. It's user base trebled from 46mn users in Q1'14 to 122mn in Q1'16. Terrific! But after averaging a growth of 15mn Daily active users (DAU) for the first three-quarters of 2016, it reported a paltry 5mn DAU for Q4'2016. High user base effect or increased competition? Temporary blip or flawed business model?
2) It's competition is formidable and target age group(teens) fad followers. With resource-rich Facebook's Instagram easily matching Snapchat's functionalities, its barrier to competition is definitely low. And what if it goes out of fashion?
3) It's cost structure is high - it uses outsourced storage for which it is paying $2bn to Google's cloud over five years. Given that computing power is a major part of the cost of revenues, will an outsourced model be sustainable or pose a dependency risk in the long run, especially when Instagram uses servers owned by its parent company.
4) Skyhigh valuation with no voting rights. It is a big money loser for now with losses growing from $373mn in 2015 to $514mn in 2016. And it listed at a P/S of ~60x. That’s way too much to pay for no profits on the books and no shareholder rights

BankNifty Monthly Strategy

I am starting this thread here because My BankNifty weekly and monthly strategies were mixing up in a single thread http://ift.tt/2ll0Gn5

This thread is for Banknifty Monthly strategy:

Copying again from last thread:
============================
Trade started @
Bought Banknifty March Future @ 20863
Sold 20800 Call @ 426 x 2

My upper Breakeven: 21500
My Lower Breakeven : 20100

So, I bought 2nd march expiry
21300 Call @ 22
20300 Put @ 18
===========================

Total Profit/loss till now:

Future = 20863 - 20544 = -319
20800 Call = 426 - 233 = 193*2 = +386
21300 Call @ 22 = -22
20300 Put @ 18 = -18

Total = -319 +386 - 22 -18 = +27 points

Now again Bought by breakeven for current week:
21200 CE @ 6.50
20100 PE @ 35

Let's see after current week expiry.

DJIA. Is it time to buy?

Dow breached the 21000 mark for the first time today, S&P and Nasdaq hit record intraday highs post Trump speech. Overall, the US markets are up more than 10% post elections driven mainly by anticipation of "phenomenal" tax reforms, fiscal boost and financial deregulation.
But is this rally sustainable? Consider this:
1) The S&P500 Shiller PE (Cyclically adjusted PE ratio - CAPE) is currently at 29.52, about 77% higher than the historical mean of 16.7. This level has been exceeded only a few times before - including the housing bubble of 2008, dot com mania of the 1999 and Great Depression of 1929, indicating that the current market is grossly overvalued
2) This puts immense pressure on the earnings to match up these high valuations. Agreed, earnings are expected to receive a boost from lower taxes from Trump tax reforms, but policy specifics remain elusive and execution could face congressional headwinds. Further, labor costs are expected to rise, given that the economy is at full employment. High labor costs combined with a rising dollar could eat into the tax aided rise in corporate earnings.
3) Again, the markets are banking on a rise in corporate earnings from tax cuts. Such govt. aided profits do not reflect innovation and efficiency and do not aid value creation in the long run.
Will it be a bumpy ride ahead? Read more about the U.S. indices here: http://hubs.ly/H06w6Lw0

Stock management - positional

hello,

I am a positional trader - trading price action and a few indicators for reference. Although trading full-time, I find it very difficult to study multiple stocks.

Often, I find that I miss out on trades - although entering late is an option, the position size has to be reduced [will possibly lead to too many positions leading to spending too much time managing the trades alone. also, on the short side - trades are possible only in lots].

Have pruned my stock selection criteria to F&O stocks and among them, only those priced above 100. Leaving out the expensive contracts (value > ~8.5 lacs) it still comes down to ~140 stocks.

Would like inputs/ideas from others on how to tackle this problem.

thank you.

Which are best and trusted discount brokers?

Hello,
I would like to know which are great discount brokers whom we can trust with our money.

I mostly used HDFCSL as my broker, they have very expensive brokerage plan. In options they charge 1% of contract value for buying and selling, whereas I've heard discount brokers like Zerodha just charges flat Rs.20 per Option transactions.

I have no idea about these discount brokers. Can we trust them? How is their services? These brokers usually don't have offices on ground, that's why they are cheap, but I wonder how well they serve?

I mostly trade on my own. I need a PC platform & mobile platform. But do these brokers provide Phone based trading as well?

If you using any of these discount brokers, how would you rate them? Whom will you recommend?

Thnx
