can I ask my broker to refund debit charges on my demat account

I have a bsbda account and I had to incur significant debit charges like rs 50 for rs 0.4 value share as I was not aware of debit charges.I ended up paying rs 2000+ in debit charges.any way to get it refunded.
or if not way to trade without such charges. please don't suggest discount brokers
