Oddball S&P system

Strategy snapshot
Strategy: Oddball S&P system
Approach:Systematic, stop-and-reverse
(always in the market)
Market: Index tracking stocks (SPY, QQQ)
and stock index futures
Indicator setup: Create a rate-of-change indicator of
the hourly closing values of the advancing
issues of the NYSE. Include only the closing
data point of the natural hour, starting at
10 a.m. and ending at 4 p.m. EST.
To calculate the indicator,
use the following formula:
Rate of change in advancing issues
(RAI ) = ( AI / AI[n] -1) *100,
w h e r e
AI = Latest number
AI[n] = Number of advancing issues n periods ago
Entry: A buy signal is issued every time the
indicator is greater than 3. A sell signal is
issued every time the indicator
is less than 1.
Exit: Stop-and-reverse. Positions are reversed
with each new buy and sell signal,
as described above.
Risk control/money management: There is no money
management technique employed other
than the system stays in the market 100
percent of the time, either long or short,
with a constant number of contracts.
Note: If a trade is signaled at 4 p.m. EST, you have 15
minutes until the close of the market to place the trade
in the S&P futures (it is not possible to do this when trading
the SPY). This avoids the pitfall of basing real trading
on unrealistic system tests that generate signals on the
close at the end of the session, when the trade can in
practice only be initiated the next session. In such cases
the price may have moved farther away from where the
test indicates the system was filled, giving a false reflection
of the system’s performance.

Nifty 2017

Hi All,
This is a yearly thread (Jan - Dec 2017). I am discontinuing my earlier Nifty thread as I am trying to bring in some pattern to my postings on Nifty. On this thread, I will post:
  1. My View on Nifty for Next week. This post will be done on weekend, with charts. There will be no calls or recommendations, but purely technical views and might show my bias up-to some extent for next week in advance. How you trade it’s your call. I will try to post my view on all the weekends, but exceptions may exist.
  2. I will keep on posting my completed orders once those are close. But will not be able declare when I entered a position, due to compliance issue
  3. I will keep on updating that excel (Nifty 200 Points per month) as the year progresses. Purely for this thread, I am keeping aside 1 Lakh and will start with just 1 lot in Nifty (starting).

Good Luck to All !! Wish you a Very Happy New Year in Advance!!

Conquering final fx frontier – the global challenge

100 TRADES ... 100 DAYS ... 1,000$-10,000$ ...
You read it RIGHT and I MEANT IT ...
Few Traders tried it earlier, but could not cross the finishing line and I’m hoping, with a proper trading strategy and Risk Profiling, to cross that Final Barrier.
Salient features:
All the Trades carry 50 pips Emergency SL (Broker feed getting disrupted / Net outage / Un foreseen news event / Natural disasters etc). When I’m personally managing the trade/s, I do not allow more than 25 pips to go against me.
Maximum Risk of 10% of the INITIAL Equity, with all open positions, meaning one cannot lose more than 100$ (of 1,000$ equity). That is Mean R2R of 1:90.
Maximum 5 open positions.
Once the profit reaches a particular stage, I will only risk some % of the generated profits, keeping the equity and some profits, safer.
Might not be able to post all the entry and exit rules. But will always answer any questions and/or doubts. Will update the trades and the profit / loss thereof at the end of each trading day.
Lot size will gradually increase from Micro to Mini to standard with every increase in the profit. Will revert to the previous lot size, if and when there is/are any loss trade/s.
Trend Trades and Counter Trend Trades will have different lots sizes and different Limits and Stops.
I also take this opportunity to thank Eelfranz (Big E), Rick Gallowy, emmanuel7788, Phx, TheScorpS and the Whole bunch of Trading Made Simple (Forex Factory) for making me The Trader that I’m today. I owe my success to this family and I own all the mistakes that I might make.
I will start the Challenge from 05/01/2017, from London Session (13 30 IST)

Wish me Luck Guys ...:thanx:

Inspirational quotes

Hi, here i will be posting some random inspirational quotes found in other websites/books etc.

THE COUNTDOWN

Everybody has heard of T-10,9,8….3,2,1 and lift off. Whats it got to do with a life hack? It works on the principle that, once the countdown starts you cannot, and will not, back out.

Take for example something small, like cleaning your room. You are lazing on the couch, playing the latest installment of FIFA 17 or reading answers on Traderji. You know you would have to do this task, but you keep pushing it saying it will just take 5 minutes and you end up sleeping in that mess.

In this case, one should prepare his mind for the task and start the countdown. Sure you will groan when this happens, but please do not back down. End result? Clean room and satisfaction.

Amazingly in those 10 small seconds, you will feel a change in your system from Can’t DO to NEED to DO and the adrenaline, the spark and, more often than not, the courage to do the most amazing things.

Global stocks down after Wall Street slip

Global shares mostly fell in thin trading Thursday, taking their cues from a slide on Wall Street.

France's CAC 40 lost 0.5 percent to 4,822.78 in early trading, while Germany's DAX fell 0.5 percent to 11,416.75. Britain's FTSE 100 sank 0.3 percent to 7,086.44. U.S. shares were set to drift lower with Dow futures down nearly 0.1 percent at 19,763. S&P 500 futures were down 0.05 percent at 2,244.10.

Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 slipped 1.3 percent to finish at 19,145.14, as the strengthening yen, which reduces export earnings, weighed on market sentiments. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 recouped earlier losses and rose 0.3 percent to 5,699.10. South Korea's Kospi inched up 0.1 percent to 2,026.46. Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 0.2 percent to 21,795.02, while the Shanghai Composite lost 0.2 percent at 3,096.10. Shares were also lower in Taiwan.

Benchmark U.S. crude fell 30 cents to $53.76 a barrel in New York. Brent crude, used to price international oils, was down 1cent to $56.95 a barrel in London.

Bitcoin

Guys we all know bitcoin and is nothing new.
I discovered it when it was $120 and I thought I missed the train.
Also skeptical and afraid, decided not to invest.
Since then it has made a high of $1163 and then crashed to $152.
and now it is at $967.

The question since then and even now is same

1)Is it a fluke or tulip mania?
or
2) is it for real ?

I am getting very concerned what if it is 2. the implications are huge.

Many people is of the opinion that the recent up move is fueled by India Demonetization.

Decision making while trading- theory.

We put 1000's of hours in trading. We know the patterns, the price action, indicators, trade management and psychology.

But why do we still make the beginner mistakes. It's easy in theory to say "book small losses" but why is it infinitely hard while doing it in real time? I have a theory to explain this.

There are two different approaches of thinking...1)process oriented 2) outcome oriented. I'll link below the research article for those who want to understand in depth on how decision making is a result of your approach.

To put it simply, if you are outcome oriented (want to make xx rupees per trade, for example) then it will be hard to make a decision to close the trade when the loss is small because it affects your "lifestyle".

If you're outcome oriented, then during a loss your brain subconsciously views losses as a threat for achieving your goals(profits). This damages your decision making. As long as you don't close a trade, you still aren't in a loss, right?:clapping: If you're process oriented then not following the process is the threat for achieving your goal(sticking to the process).

It's a basic natural instinct.

Research: pdf

Extra reading:

This the only way to solve the "hard losses" problem. Change your thinking to a process oriented one. Not following your system should be the threat and following your system should be goal.

When I was first changing my thinking, I felt uncomfortable while trading. Eventually I made it through. The key lies in sticking to your system no matter how it affects you. It will take some while but after a month or two your trading will change.

I am not saying that you mustn't focus on the profits. I'm saying that making profits shouldn't be your primary goal. When you succeed and make a lot of great trades then it's you should be allowed to smell the roses of your hard work because it gives you a motivational boost. But, it's important to understand that the beauty of the roses lies in their "transience".;)

Dangal Movie, Reel vs Real, Here's truth

Dangal is wonderful film with inspiring story of Phogat's family and great Performances has been done by its lead cast. But, There is difference between real life facts and facts shown in Movie. So let's start the video and have a look at 5 things Shown in movie, which are not True, in real Life.

Number 1

In the Dangal movie, Its is shown that Mahavir Singh Phogat was showing great need for a boy child so that he can win a gold medal for the country.
He and his wife try four times to give birth to a boy, but instead give birth to four girls. However, in reality, it was the girls’ mother who was quite
disappointed as she was the one who wished for a boy.

Number 2

In the Dangal Movie, Pramod Kadam, Geeta's Coach from National Sports Academy plays a role of a villian in Geeta's training.
Pramod Kadam is shown as irresponsible trainer in Dangal.
Was this Villian coach really excited in
Geeta's life? Sorry to spoil You. This character is fictional. There was no such coach in Geeta's or her sisters.

Number 3

In the Dangal movie it is shown that Geeta Phogat doesn’t win a single tournament before the Commonwealth Games in 2010. In the movie, She also receives a lot of strong
criticism from the coach for not showing good performance on the international stage.

However, in reality, Geeta had earlier won the gold medal at the Commonwealth Wrestling Championship in 2009, where she competed in the 55kg freestyle wrestling
category. Interestingly, Geeta’s 2010 gold was followed by another gold medal at the Commonwealth Wrestling Championship in Melbourne in 2011!

Number 4

In the Dangal movie, Geeta Phogat struggles to win the gold medal match in the Commonwealth Games in 2010. She scores a five-pointer in the nail-biting final round of
the match and clinches the gold medal with a scoreline of 5-1 in first round, 4-6 in second round, 6-5 in third round.

I am again sorry, for being a big spoiler for you if you haven't watched the movie yet

In reality, Geeta Phogat completely dominated her opponent and won the match in just two rounds, unlike the one shown in the movie that went on to three
rounds. In reality Her score was 1-0 first round, 7-0 second. Also, Geeta Phogat has long hair in the real match, while her movie counterpart has a really short hairstyle.

Number 5
In the Dangal movie, Mahavir Phogat is taken to a room and locked up by a person sent by the Indian wrestling team coach just before the gold medal match.
As a result, he misses the entire final.
However,In reality, this didn't happened Mahavir Phogat was in the stands during Geeta’s match and saw his daughter win the Commonwealth Games gold medal.

Losses->> an in-depth guide

We generally think of losses as a single event- losing money. So, we try to reduce it as much as we can by sticking to a plan. Even then, we make beginner mistakes once in a while. People try to AVOID losses instead of developing a sound strategy to deal with them. :annoyed:

" To conquer an enemy you must first completely know everything about that enemy. "

There are 5 different types of losses based on the situation. I follow this guide and react differently to each one of them.

1) Profit turned to losses:

1a) Large profit slowly turning into loss -giving back a chunk of profit to the market. Yes, it's a loss in my opinion
1b) Average profit turning into loss - market comes nearer to your profit goal and then goes back downwards.

2) Neutral turned to losses:

2a) Market stays almost neutral and suddenly moves against you in one large candle.

3) Losses turned to bigger losses

3a) unable to take small loss mentally when SL hit - generally retaliation trade or waiting for it to recover
3b) Unable to take GENUINE loss - For example, staying in the trade after you see a reversal pattern.

These are the 5 different types of losses. I believe that categorizing them and mentally preparing how you react for each situation before the trading day begins will help A LOT while dealing with losses. Atleast, it did for me.

EXTRA READING:

My personal system is roughly as follows.

1a) Happens when I'm greedy. So, I take whatever that's left of the profit and fix my mindset. I might even take the day off if this happens frequently. It's better to take whatever's left and move on instead of staying in the trade and completely ruining your mental stability. Home runs don't happen every day.

1b) This generally happens because of no personal mistake of mine. What can I do when trade doesn't hit my profit mark? I have two choices, I can either take the scraps or wait. I take the scraps and move on because the market isn't behaving as I predicted it would. Staying in might be a disaster. I always stay out when I'm unsure because I learned it the hard way:lol:. Sometimes you might get out early and miss the profits. But is it worth staying in a market you're unsure about? That's your choice to make. I prefer to miss this opportunity (if it does happen) and move on instead of staying in.

2a) **** happens. I cannot do anything. Categorizing it as a neutral loss keeps my emotions in check so I just do it.

3a) This is the hardest type of loss. This loss ONLY happens in two cases, when you're i)greedy(market might turn) ii)fearful(no idea what's happening so you can't make a decision to close)

Best way , according to me is to setup two different losses - 1) mental stop loss 2) physical stop loss. Once it hits your mental stop loss, you take a step back and analyze your current situation. If I'm incapable of analyzing due to greed or fear, then it will hit the physical SL and I stay out. Your mental stoploss can be very small- it doesn't matter because it's main purpose is to help you make a habit of re-analyzing your trade whenever it starts going against you.

If I find myself moving SL then I will take few days off from trading. Generally it's a mindset issue.

3b) **** happens. Professional traders sometimes make these mistakes. There's no solution to this other then categorizing it and moving on. For example, you went long after looking at previous candle and suddenly the current one made an engulfment...what can I do? Nothing.

So, I take the loss and get out because this might be an opportunity for a reverse trade.

What business to start for extra income and future prospects?

This thread maybe a little off topic, but just wanted to try anyway since I have received amazing advice from TJ members on all topics :-)

If you were starting a business as of today, which one would you start and why? I want to get some ideas for my 33yr old, unmarried cousin who is stuck in a call center job. He had to drop out of school after 11th class due to a family situation, and has been doing odd jobs since then. He is not interested in stock trading for some reason. He is however very bright, and given right training and support will certainly do well.

He initially wants to set up a business part-time and once the business starts growing, he would like to go full-time. I was wondering if TJ folks can give some advice on what businesses might be profitable, and how to get going.

He has 2 ideas himself: 1)importing LED bulbs from China and selling them here for a small profit 2)entering the diamond polishing/exporting business based in Surat/Mumbai. The diamond business is a little tricky, since it requires a fair amount of investment and is difficult to do part-time, so he is in two minds.

Many thanks in advance folks !

Snap doubled its acquisitions in 2016 as it builds toward IPO

As much of the world was welcoming Santa Claus down their chimneys, news emerged this week that Snap, the company behind perennially popular social network Snapchat, had acquired augmented reality (AR) startup Cimagine Media for “up to” $40 million.

Founded in 2012, Cimagine works on computer vision and real-time image-processing technologies, which is entirely in line with Snap’s mission to be a “camera company” that pushes far beyond its ephemeral photo-sharing roots into myriad other areas, including augmented reality and physical cameras.

Indeed, Snapchat (the company) rebranded as Snap in September and launched its first piece of hardware — a pair of $130 connected glasses, called Spectacles.
But perhaps more notable this year was the bumper funding round that has enabled the Venice, California-based startup to lay the foundation for its anticipated initial public offering (IPO) sometime next year.

In May, Snap raised a whopping $1.8 billion, which sent the company’s total funding since its inception in 2011 flying past the $2.5 billion mark. Ahead of that Series F round, Snap bought Bitstrips, a Canadian company that makes personalized emojis known as bitmojis, and a few months later Snapchat introduced bitmojis into its own service.

But the gargantuan $1.8 billion war chest evidently made it possible for Snap to double down on its efforts to bolster its technological prowess — in 2016, the company made five known acquisitions, more than double the tally for its entire history.

In June, news emerged that Snap had bought Obvious Engineering, a company working on “new ways to accurately capture, share and re-experience life in 3D and VR.” The company also operated Seene, an app that let users create and share 3D images, though it was subsequently shuttered.

A couple of months later, Snap snapped up mobile discovery app Vurb in a deal thought to be worth around $110 million. It’s not entirely clear what Snap has in mind for Vurb, but it could be something along the lines of becoming a platform similar to Facebook, in terms of letting third-party apps use its messaging smarts to increase event discoverability. Ultimately, it seems clear the deal was all about helping make Snapchat stickier for its users.

Advertising will play a pivotal role in Snap’s efforts to entice companies on board and boost its revenues, which is why it reportedly acqui-hired San Francisco-based ad-tech startup Flite last week. Flite’s self-stated mission is to “help the world’s leading brands build beautiful, intelligent ads,” which include 360-degree videos, “shoppable” videos, and ads built for mobile-first platforms — such as Snapchat.

In 2016, we’ve been given a good glimpse of Snap’s aspirations, through its acquisitions and product launches across AR, VR, 3D, cameras, content, and advertising. To what extent these acquisitions complement products that Snap is already working on isn’t entirely clear, because the company is fairly adept at keeping its cards close to its chest. Snap reportedly filed its IPO plans confidentially, something that companies are allowed to do if their revenue is less than $1 billion.

But company cofounder and CEO Evan Spiegel has previously said that 70 percent of the company’s engineers are working on new products, and these acquisitions give Snap significantly more depth in terms of engineering talent — talent it will need if it’s to build a serious business and make a success of its IPO.

Snap reportedly now has more than 150 million daily active users, which is more than Twitter. And following Facebook’s failure to acquire Snapchat in a $3 billion offer back in 2013, Mark Zuckerberg and his team have taken to copying Snapchat’s features as a matter of course. If nothing else, that should be taken as a sign that Snapchat is doing something right.

Was an active member in this Forum long back, my then id was uasish, got banned , however, was active in trading since long but left trading since last 3 yrs , had myocardial infarction in 2012 & bypass surgery on 2015 and a long time insulin dependent diabetic (my family blames that due to yrs of intraday trading this happened).Went back to my earlier Marketing Profession and since then family members are quite happy, am also enjoying that the ball was getting hit by the middle of the bat, enjoying international company trips.Want to come back to trading but not probably in intraday, was indoctrinated in this forum got maturity, by the contribution from remarkable friends like Saint Karthik etc. What's that in ID, proof of the pudding is in eating, will start from Jan2016 and still old Metastock would be my tool,am 64 now of which more that 10 yrs were in intraday trading I had my share of profit & loss, now am told Zerodha is the broker still have Indiabulls but maybe will start with Zerodha , no hard feeling hope Traderji accept this old timer.

Weight Watchers shares soar after Oprah Winfrey loses 40 pounds

Weight Watchers International Inc.’s stock got another boost from the falling weight of Oprah Winfrey, the company’s backer and most famous customer.

The shares climbed as much as 19 percent after Winfrey announced that she’d lost 40 pounds using the program. The diet company, whose shares had fallen 54 percent this year before Thursday’s surge, is unveiling new TV ads featuring Winfrey that tout her weight loss. The media magnate and talk-show veteran became a centerpiece of Weight Watcher’s comeback plan last year when she bought a stake in the company and joined the board.

In October 2015, when Weight Watchers first announced its deal with Winfrey, the shares more than doubled in a single day. Though the previous rally has faded, Winfrey’s subsequent endorsements of Weight Watchers have given the stock temporary jolts. The shares gained 27 percent over two days last December when Oprah tweeted a video about using the weight-loss program, and there was a 20 percent bump in January after Winfrey said she had lost 26 pounds while still eating bread every day.

The latest marketing push begins next week, just before the New Year’s holiday. The coming weeks are critical for Weight Watchers: The company typically adds about 40 percent of new customers in the first quarter, when resolutions push people to seek out diets.

The stock climbed as high as $12.50 on Thursday, its biggest intraday gain since February.

How to stay focussed while day trading?

Hi,
trading happens to be a pretty boring job, and I learned this by paying some fees to the market, as from as much as I have experienced, one should never approach this as some thrilling adventure to make money, which was the idea I had when I started out. So now that I have calmed off a bit, I am faced by another problem -- Lack of focus.
I request experienced intraday traders to share some tips on how they maintain focus while trading intraday. I am asking about intraday only as thats only what I do.
Some things that come to my mind are:
1) Start trading with focused mind, keep track of when you lose focus and stop trading there in the first week. Slowly and steadily try to increase this duration week by week.
2) Since you are going to trade only at your trade areas, dont try to focus and spend you enthusiasm with every tick -- but just concentrate when price is near your trade area.

I havent tried either of these, but am planning to. So request experienced day traders to give some more pointers. Also please share pros and cons of above 2 ideas, if anybody has tried them.

Regards
Krushna

Effect of bonus shares on stock price

Query 1:

ONGC went ex-bonus on 15th/16th Dec with ratio of 1 share for every 2 shares held. Now that is a very generous allotment and I was of understanding that share price will correct correspondingly.

But when I see share price of last 6 months, it has been trading between Rs 150 - 200. Even now it is being traded at around Rs 200. So how come the price did not fall? If the price doesnt fall after such generous allotment then it would be lottery to those who had invested heavily! For eg., with an investment of Rs 1,00,000 you get stock of Rs 50,000 free (if share price doesnt correct).

Query 2:

ONGC had announced record date of bonus on 6th Dec. But it closed at a minor gain of 1% from closing of 5th to closing of 6th. If a company gives such a lucrative offer than doesnt the price should appreciate much more?!

I would be grateful if anyone can clarify this.

Market depth analysis

Hey guys, I just came across the market depth window and I was pretty confused. Can anyone help me, I wanted to know how I can decide whether this stock would be a buy or sell. I've also heard people say that it can help plot S/R, how exactly do I this without a chart? I don't plan on trading without a chart, but I wanted to know. Let's just assume there are no charts. You only have the market depth. How do you trade off it?

PS: In moneycontrol, you can enter a stock and below the area in BSE where they have closing price and all that, you see market depth. Move your mouse near the 'i' and you'll see it. Just in case some of you wanted to help with a visual example. :)

Btw, I'm looking to scalp.

Ikea to pay $50 Million over 3 toddler deaths from dresser tip-overs

Ikea has reached a $50 million settlement with the families of three toddlers who died after unsecured Ikea dressers tipped over, according to lawyers for the families. The furniture giant confirms a settlement has been reached, but describes it as "tentative."

The money will be divided evenly between the families, the lawyers say. The settlement also calls for Ikea to meet voluntary safety standards for dressers, donate $150,000 to children's hospitals and $100,000 to a children's safety organization, and to invest more money in its "Secure It" program raising awareness about tip-over risk.

The settlement comes after three toddlers died in the past three years from tip-over incidents involving unsecured MALM dressers. Curren Collas and Camden Ellis died in 2014, prompting Ikea to launch the "Secure It" program and offer free wall-mounting kits to consumers.

Then Ted McGee died the same way in February. All three children were about 2 years old when they died.

The families brought a wrongful death lawsuit against the company, alleging that Ikea "had consistently refused to meet voluntary national safety standards" and "refused to re-design its furniture products to be more stable and tip-resistant," according to the family's lawyers.

Ikea confirmed with NPR that a "tentative settlement has been reached" in the case, but said it would not comment further because the deal had not been approved by the court.

Elliot Wave - TD D wave - need help converting from MQ4 to AFL

    if (Close[startDay] <= Close[startDay + i])
      return (false);
  }

  return (true);
}

This at the very beginning itself is confusing me

if(time!=Time[0]){for(i = 0; i < Bars; i++)
ObjectDelete(""+i);time=Time[0];}

int counted_bars = IndicatorCounted();

// check for possible errors
if(counted_bars < 0)
return (-1);

// last counted bar will be recounted
if(counted_bars>0)
counted_bars--;

int limit = 500;//Bars - counted_bars;

int waveNumber = 0;

I have already converted the Bool function to amibroker function but I can't get a move on the loop due to this first set of arguments.

CROWD NIFTY INDEX PREDICTION - Startup business , is it legal ??

Hi ,
I am planning to launch startup website businss to crowd nifty index daily contest .

Crowdd will predict the nifty index by paying an nominal entry fee of say 100 rs and predicts the value .
top 3 winners will be awarded with 90 percent of money which we recieved from overall crow users .
we take 10 percent as service charge from the payout .

All transactions will happen thru virtual points , only the payin and payout will be real money , example 1 rs = 1 point

this website will be purely for users to learn and check there confidence level on there technical /functional analysis .
and also to check control on greed/fear /emotional factors before they lose heavy money in real market with NSE/BSE stocks .

we also provide learning and training to users via online blogs, books and training materials .

Please let me know if this business model is legal for nifty index where no securties are really bought or exchanged ?
as far my research , this business model falls under category of "game of skill" .

you reply is highly appreciated .

Thanks

My SBI net banking hacked?

Hi,
I have a savings account with SBI. The problem started from the day i took a gold loan of 1 Lakh rupees. The day that money came into my account, I recieved an SMS saying "Your transaction XXXX INR 407.85 failed. You may try again. Inconvenience is regretted." The very next day I withdrew the mony from that account and deposited in another account. I logged in to my netbanking and to my surprise, my last login time listed on the site was exactly one minute prior of the SMS time, and I hadnt logged in to net banking for at least a month! I ignored as I didnt have any money in that account now and had decided not to use that account for big amounts. Now i dont keep more than 10K in that account. But the SMSes didnt stop. And the strange thing is the amounts are always like 405.54 etc, and always in inreasing order. I will list the amounts in last few SMSes:
403.07
403.26
403.45
404.21
404.40
404.59
404.78
405.35
and so on.

fed up with this, I called their call centre, which was just a waste of time and they asked me to contact the branch. Contacting the branch was another waste of time and they asked me to file a police complaint, which i didnt do.
The strange thing is this didnt stop even after changing my password and I also dont get any OTP on my cell for these transactions.
Now I have decided to format my laptop, which would be a real pain as I have all the softwares I need installed which I will need to do again.
I want to know if anybody else has faced such an issue?

Regards
Krushna

ONGC share split price

Hello fellow Traderji members

I had bought ONGC shares on Margin on the 13th of Dec 2016 @312. However, there was a share split announced due to which the current share price is @201. I believe there's also Rs32 dividend on the 15th declared by the ONGC board. Also, they have declared bonus share of 1:1. I plan to square it off tomorrow. Could you please tell me what the implications of it would be. Your quick response will be much appreciated.

Weekly Bank Nifty Options strategy

Bank nifty options have been introduced since last few months and are very liquid. I haven't traded options strategies other than some speculative naked buying of calls or puts in nifty sometimes. But all those were purely lottery types of trades and were not something that I would like to do as an on going process. On this forum I have learnt that credit or debit spreads are good options strategies which will need no or little monitoring. Since the time value of options reduces drastically as the expiry nears, I think that implementing spreads strategies for weekly bank nifty options might work very well. I look forward for views, feedback and caution from expert options traders or traders trading in weekly bank nifty options.
Thanks.

A brief study on nifty options for intraday

A STUDY ON NIFTY OPTIONS
Hy Guys:),
As name suggests this will be the Study/Research on Nifty options. I have a directional trading system which I will be using it on Nifty future charts and iam planning to trade it from a long time but I needed a research like this that will give me the confidence to trade the system with nifty options, Finally I have subscribed the data feed for intraday data which is needed for study.
The data feed is very bogus name Valvenet best RT data , but I just needed this for study purpose so its okay to proceed . Here are some Highlight points of the study which I will be posting. So kindly Bear my English and RIP it.
Instruement – Nifty and Nifty options
TimeFrame – 3M
System Type – Directional

Study details
I will be posting 3 charts of every trade here which occurs on Nifty future charts and the trades will be taken on either BUY or SELL on PUTS and CALLS according to the signals. This will be the brief comparison between whether to BUY a option or SELL them through the whole month So lets find out which approach is convenient. Iam expecting some expert comments , every positive criticism/correction is welcomed….Lets find out.

A brief study on nifty options for intraday

IST: Low risk - High Reward strategy

Hello all

IST stands for "Infrequent Small Trades" (in Nifty futures).

Para 1: How it works: Between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm complete ONE trade of 10 points. SL 15 points.

Do not trade on days when some news is expected (like Brexit, budget, RBI policy, Fed decision). Generally every week trade only on three days so as to minimize risk.

Basis of trade: Visible price movement of Nifty futures and its recent highs and lows. No graphs / indicators required. In the two hours mentioned, the movement is anyway narrow.

Two things are very important: Intra-day multiple allowed by broker and brokerage charged.

Para 2: Choice of broker

From whatever I know, three brokers were shortlisted (bracket shows multiple allowed and brokerage charged)

(A) Zerodha (2.5x, Rs 40 per pair trade)
(B) Astha (10x, Rs 1000 per Rs 1 Crore of trade)
(C) SAS online (5x, Rs 999 pm unlimited trade)

Considering both criteria together, the best is SAS online for IST technique.
(In case of Astha the multiple of 10x is attractive but brokerage would be Rs 12000 per month ... cannot afford that).

Para 3: Profit calculation (per month)

Capital : Rs 1 lac (can be increased later)

(A) With 5x multiple, it is possible to trade 8 lots of Nifty futures (qty 600).
(B) Total points per month: No. of trades is 3 per week OR 12 per month. Assume SL hit 2 times in month.
( C) Net points per month : 70 (this is how --- Profit 10 x 10 = 100 points. Minus Loss 2 x 15 points = 30 points).
(D) Gross profit per month: 600 qty x 70 points = Rs 42 k
(E) Expenses per pair trade assuming Nifty fut as 8200: Trade volume is 8200 x 600 qty x 2 (buy txn and sell txn) ~ Rs. 1 Cr. So the expenses are as follows:
STT 500, NSE turnover tax 210, SEBI charges 20, Stamp duty (Maha state) 200. Total exepnses per pair trade: 930.
(F) Expenses per month: 930 x 12 ~ 11.2 k
(G) Add brokerage 999 + 14% tax ~ Rs 1140
(G) Net profit per month ~ 30 k (a cool 30%).
(H) What if the Stop loss is hit 3 times in a month? Net profit is still 15 k.

This is quite opp. of scalping/jobbing where no. of trades are very high (like 20 per day or 400 per month).

Is anybody been doing this? Request the experienced traders on this board to comment whether this is feasible or not. Also point out if there is any mistake in profit calculation above or suggest a broker who allows 10x multiple AND fixed brokerage per month.

My own experience of loss making reveals that the only reason for loss was "trading every day, that too every now and then". Restricting to 3 trades per week, that too during 10.30 am and 12:30 pm can minimize losses.

In my next post I will give details of my dry run last week (12-16 Dec).

Thanks for your time. Take care.

FP Markets – Your View

I have been working with FP Markets for past 5-6 years, I feel entirely satisfied and convinced with nearly everything here and it should be obvious when I said 5-6 years, as no one in sense will work with broker not good for that long. So, I like to ask people what you feel about this broker? It’s pretty hard to see so many people having issues with brokers. The main topping part about this company is not the fancy deals, but it’s them been regulated by ASIC, I believe anyone here who got idea will easily work out why that regulator is so precious. So, do share your views… Thanks

Tax exemption for trading as business

My question is from the point of view of intraday trading. When showing trading as a business, is there an upper limit on 'business expenses' that can be claimed towards tax exemption purposes? For example, the Zerodha Varsity page (http://ift.tt/2hSrkll) shows that expenses towards books, phone/internet bills, rental income etc. count as 'cost'. These could add up substantially - for ex. high speed internet alone could easily add up to 25k per annum. Can all this be used for tax exemption, with no upper limit? Do we have to attach/produce receipts?

How much of income expenses have people on TJ been claiming?

On a side note, would the costs towards algo trading APIs, historical data charges, etc. count as expenses and count towards exemption?

Thanks in advance.

Trading futures and options in US and Singapore

I wish to trade futures and options instruments in US and Singapore. Please let me know if this is possible for me as an individual investor and suggest brokers for the same.

If an individual investor is not allowed to trade in these instruments overseas, is it possible to explore this route by forming a private company in India, with the business of trading? Let me know any thoughts on this matter.

I have sent a query to Interactive Brokers regarding the same just now and awaiting their response.

NooBs Trading Step into Wild Market

Hello all, :eat:
Obviously this is yet another trading journal over here, let's see how long this stays though.

Aim

- To be Intraday Trader in future
- So be successful on paper trades to be become an Intraday trader.

Process involved

PROCESS 1 - Getting the BIAS of Market RIGHT being Paper Trader

Step 1) Preparing a watchlist in F&O segment for tomorrows trade
Step 2) Using Bollinger Band, Volume & S/R , scan all F&O's
Step 3) Adding the bias of analysis whether SHORT or LONG entry.
Step 4) Next day, let the market move ( Not worried about Enty or Exit, just watching for now)
Step 5) At EOD , post market analysis
Step 6) Analyze the possible entries on the bias you were correct, analyze the wrong bias on where it went wrong.
Step 7) Record the observations.
Step 8) Calculate the Win Loss Ratio just based on the bias
Step 9) Repeat the steps again.
Step 10) To improvise to get the WLR >1 for daily basis
Step 11) Improvise to get WLR > 3 on monthly basis ( To calculate the average though)

PROCESS 2

Not yet started until I achieve WLR > 1 , I have planned them out as well. But I need to work out my WLR as if now. That's what I am trying to improvise.:!

-------------------------------------------------

What is WLR ?

- It is Win Loss Ratio.

WLR = Total Win Bias for the day / Total Loss Bias for the day

Please note that, I am only considering the WLR for just BIAS of market. This will take further break down as in when I start to trade.WLR will change for number of trades with respect to Money Management.

So overall, even if I am riding with my present WLR ratio which is shown below , I must make money eventually, which is just for BIAS BIAS BIAS !!

Below is my excel record sheet , that I started from 14-Dec-16 onwards.

If it is not visible enough

The Columns that I use are

RESULT - This is post market data if my bias was right it will take as TRUE or else FALSE
STOCK NAME - Scrip
BIAS - Market Bias ( My possible way to look into the market for tomorrow)
BOLLINGER BAND - Candle on Upper Band or Lower Band
VOLUME - Very High/ High/Medium/Low/Very Low
S/R - Support or resistance / 200 MA / 20 MA
CANDLE PATTERN - Just candle pattern formations
DAILY VOLATILITY - From nseindia.com
REMARKS - If any
PRIOR DAY REALITY - What happened to market next day?
INFERENCE - My observation on where I went wrong/right and record them and appreciate and punish myself.

At the bottom, WLR Calculation part. I intend to improve further once I start to trade better with risk : reward analysis. As if now, I am focused on WLR above 1

Still to be continued further..

nifty future and bank nifty

Hello

I am looking for some suggestion, let me give my background first little bit. I usually trade forex and typically I trade on daily or 4 hr chart. And I make 5-7 % return each month. Mainly trade price action so no indicator. I am trading for last 6 months or so.

So now I am trying to trade nifty future and I am pretty new here and trying to build my account from very small amount so trying 10 mins chart on daily for getting higher leverage from cover order. But I am bit confused about timing here like 9.15 -9.30 it's seems to be highly volatile and I see lot of big gap up and gap down opening which is bit unusual for forex market for major currency pair. if someone can suggest how to deal with it in nifty future market, some basic ground rule may be. Thanks in advance.

Forex Analysis and News for Major Currency pairs

Forex Analysis and News for Major Currency pairs December, Week 2

This Analysis is brought to you by PROFIFOREX

Here is the market outlook for this week:

EURUSD
Price Trend: Bearish

At the beginning of last week, there was an increase of 300 pips in the EURUSD. This increase brought the pair up hitting 1.0850 - which is a resistance line. After this, the direction turned around with a strong decline in prices. By the end of the week, the EURUSD had lost the initial gains it recorded at the beginning of the week. With the decline extending further; pushing the pair down to the support line located at 1.0550. For the next four days, the possibility is high that the pair would keep falling, with a weakening EUR and strengthening USD.

EURJPY
Dominant bias: Bullish

At the moment, the bullish confirmation pattern in this pair is very clear. Of late, prices had gone up and down but all the same the trend is yet to change from an uptrend. Across this week, prices may reach 122.00, 122.50, even as far as 123.00 (all these being supply zones). The main factor supporting the increase in this pair is the yen that is losing strength. Unless the yen gets stronger, the euro which is actually weak will yet be recording gains against the yen; thus maintaining the uptrend.

GBPUSD
Price Trend: Bearish

On Monday and Tuesday last week, there were gains in the GBPUSD with the pair pushing up to reach the distribution territory located at 1.2750. The pair made commendable attempts to remain above this point but eventually recorded little success; falling below it. This really affected the chances of the pair pulling up. Across the next four days, we expect the GBPUSD to suffer further decline possibly breaking through a couple of accumulation territories. The trend however for most GBP pairs this week is a downtrend.

USDJPY
Price Trend: Bullish

There was a continuation in the consolidation in this pair from Monday to Tuesday last week. But by Thursday, we were already seeing an increase in the pair. The USDJPY so far has recorded an increase of over 1380 pips since the very distinct low the pair had dropped to 9th of last month. The trend continues to be an uptrend as such prices may reach the supply levels located at 115.50, 116.00 and 116.50 across the next four days.

USDCHF
Price Trend: Bullish

For the first three days of last week, there was sideways movement in the USDCHF. But from Thursday, the pair started to record gains strengthening the uptrend. The push brought up prices testing 1.0200, which is a notable resistance level, only to eventually close below it. Across the next four days however, the USDCHF could push up to 1.0250 even rising farther into 1.0300 (both being resistance levels). The possibility is strong that the CHF may push up against a number of its rivals, even attempting to rise against the US dollar.

5 Bone chilling Real Ghosts Photos

5 bone Chilling Real ghost photos

Number 5

White Lady of Worstead Church

In 1975 Diane , and diane's husband decided to visit the church and to get out of the heat of very hot summer day.

Diane had been quite unwell, She gave a quick prayer for better health as her husband took a few photographs.

After their holiday When they got home they realised that something mysterious had taken place.
As the family were going through their photographs, they were shocked to see that Diane had a mysterious extra sitting behind her in the church,
they are 100% sure they were alone in that day in church.
It was quite a mysterious for them, so
They returned to the church, and showed the photo to a vicar. He explained White Lady, was a caring,
healing soul. It was at this point that Diane had realised the deacese she had been struggling for some time, has been eased now

Now the church has been converted into PUB named as White lady pub and This photo is on display over there
ever since strange things have taken place there; lights turning themselves on,
glasses moving arround own its own.

Number 4

Grandpa, Ghost

This Photograph was taken by denise , A granny is this Photo is her Grand mother. On Sunday 17 august 1997 Denise took two picture of his granny.
this is one of them
It wasn’t until three years later that denise noticed a mysterious man standing behind her grandmother. now
that's curisous for me how didn't they noticed for long three years.
When she took a closer look, she realized that it looked identical to her grandfather. now you must be thinking
Why is that strange? Her grandfather died on August 14, 1984, and this photo was taken 17 august 1997 that is
more than thirteen years after the picture was taken.

number 3

The Backseat Driver Ghost

In 1959 Mrs Chinnery went to the cemetery to visit her mother’s grave. She took a photo of the grave, then a picture of her husband who was sitting
alone in the car waiting for her. When the snap shot was developed Mrs Cinnery’s mother appeared in the back seat of the car. An expert who examined
the photo and negatives declared: “I stake my reputation on the fact that the picture is genuine!”

Number 2

Country Side Farm Ghost

This photo taken by Neil Sandbach in 2008. Neil Sandbach was trying to catch the beauty of this English farm but instead caught a glimpse of a
child like figure in white.
Residents of the farm later mentioned that there had been multiple sightings of the same ghost running around the area.

Number 1

The Phantom Pilot

Mrs. Sayer and some friends were visiting the Fleet Air Arm Station in England in 1987 when this photo was taken.
They took a picture of her sitting in the seat of retired helicopter. Mrs. Sayer is 100% sure that no one
was sitting next to her in the pilot's seat... although a figure in a white shirt can clearly be seen sitting there.
She told an investigator that she remembered feeling rather cold sitting in that seat,
even though it was a hot day. Other pictures taken at the same time did not come out. and strange thing is this
helicopter was used in the Falklands War, but there is no information as to whether or not a pilot died in that aircraft.
