trading forex with local indian deposits

hello, brokers like alpari ,octafx and XM offer an indian local bank deposit option where the client can make deposit to an indian local bank (not in the company name though, but given officially by the company) and funds are credited to the trading account. How safe is this option to trade forex from india and is this anyway risky? if someone is doing this please share the opinions.

Difference between - RoI, RoCE, RoE, RoNW

I would be grateful if anyone can explain the difference (not just theoretical definition or formula) between Return on investment, return on capital employed, return on equity and return on networth.

Of course I have googled about them, but did not found anywhere explaining how all these are related with each other and difference between them.

Introduction

Hello co-traders/investors... I started trading very recently and am a beginner. My account is with Sharekhan. I would be grateful if some member enlightens me about pre-market orders viz., how to place, timings etc. Further, I would also like to know how to place multiple orders at one go, when the trading session begins...that is I am losing time in placing order sell/buy one after the other..

Developing a new proprietary indicator for trading NIFTY

Hi Guys,

I have been working for some time to develop a new concept where the forecasting would be done not based on historical price data or any statistical form of it. This indicator is derived from options volume statistics and it correlates very well with NIFTY movement.

I try to use any anomaly or divergence formed between NIFTY and my indicator (developed in an excel sheet) and forecast the immediate next moves.

I also use a specialized hedging strategy by covering my futures position with selling OTM options in a particular ratio.

The rationale, daily forecasting blog, trading strategy and monthly performance are published in a website which can be accessed here.

I am giving the weblink because it is not possible to detail everything in a forum page but I am happy to discuss and accept ideas to develop the concept further.

Developing a new proprietary indicator for trading NIFTY

Hi All

Hi All

Option Writing Doubt - Help Needed

Hi guys please help me with this strategy in NIFTY Options, i am newbie

Market as on 23/Nov/16

Nifty Trading at 8192

My trade..

I think market will remain in between 8500 and 7500 so,

-Selling 8500CE at 28 (75*28 = 2100)
-Selling 7500PE at 16 (75*12 = 1200)

My Query
1.If Nifty Expires at below like even 8499, will the 8500CE become ZERO?
2.How much Margin gets blocked to this above investment?
3.How i can make this strategy with lowest risk possible?

Trading & Financial data for 150 companies?

I want to track the trading performance and financial performance of lets say 150 companies (I have the script code & ISIN no.).

Most of the trading portals give data on individual companies webpages. I want to know whether there is a way to download/view data (share price/financial statements) of all 150 companies simultaneously/together?

How to close a Demat Account(ICICI DIRECT)?

I am currently using ICICI DIRECT. Initially I chose ICICI DIRECT beacuase it linked my bank account with my Demat account. I figured out it is too costly and the advisors they provide for Call and Trade actually just push you to buy stocks. Now I want to shift to Zerodha. Can someone please tell me how to close Demat account at ICICI DIRECT. Thanks in advance.

Good day, dear traders! I'll show you how to trade AUD / USD, NZD / USD, USD/CAD. "Commodity" currencies are easier to forecast than other currencies. Commission small it is also an advantage. I buy the AUD, NZD, CAD simultaneously or sell the currency pairs simultaneously. What is my method of trading? - This is a neural network. Now begin the question: how the neural network works, what its components? neural network device is very complicated. This question is difficult to give a simple answer. Let's not go into the details. Let's just watch my forecasts, and then make conclusions. I think that my topic will be of interest and help you in trading. Forecasts come at different times. If you are interested in my forecasts, please write your e-mail, and configure this e-mail notifying SMS alarm, so you will not miss my new signal.

Hi Senior coders

I found this Renko strategy very useful. At Present the coder reverses at 2bars.
It would be more useful if somebody modifies the code to reverse at single bars
so we can spot the reversals early. Kindly someone modify this to reverse at 1 bar.

getting my feet wet for the first time

introduction
till now i have been a full time forex trader , i had avoided stock markets entirely mainly due to lack of knowledge , i did try once and the result terrified me lol.

why this thread
here i will start with one scrip at a time and post my analysis and actual trade on that scrip ( ofcourse its on moneybhai so far ) but will go live once i have gained confidence

i am requesting expert comments from time to time if my analysis goes wrong

my first trade
i bought cipla at 555.309 , holding it

it broke resistance at 564.85 , waiting for it to break previous support at 570

if that breaks then its a run to next resistance at 600.50 where i wish to book it

Was just watching the screen and planning lots of trade in mind for future use. I have selected few stocks for put buying etc.

Dear friends, we all seem to have different ways to look at the market. Some says it was a trend day in Nifty, while other do not think so.

I want to know, if there could be some method by which we can Quantify the Intraday Chart of 5 Min Timeframe and clearly say that if these conditions are met, then this day qualify as a Trend Day or if such conditions are there, then it qualifies as a Choppy or Non Trend Day.

ST sir has also mentioned many times that we must keep the Market State in mind, for using ATR based stops etc. During different market states, we need to use the tools differently. So I am trying to quantify these 2 Market States - Trendy Vs Choppy, based on intraday 5 min bars data.

Thank you so much.

How to invest in Dividend stocks

There are two ways you can make money on a stock: capital appreciation and dividend yield. Capital appreciation is the increase in the share price and the dividend yield is what the company elects to pay out annually. For example, if a company’s share price increased five percent in 2015 and paid an annual dividend of five percent, the annualized return would be 10%. Adding high-quality dividend stocks to your retirement portfolio is the best way to ensure consistent growth.

Things to keep in mind before asking the question of how to invest in dividend stocks:
  1. When it comes right down to it, investing in dividend yielding stocks is more about common sense than finding under-the-radar stocks. That is, look for places where people spend their money when times are good and bad.
  1. A stable business that increases its annual five-percent dividend on a consistent basis is more attractive than a business with an eye-watering 15% annual dividend that doesn’t. In fact, companies that grow their dividends are more attractive than those that simply pay a high dividend.

Specify A Reason When Banning A Person

Hello Traderji,

Banning without any reason is a disrespect of members of this forum.

If the banned person knows his mistakes he can correct his mistakes next time.

Because First time I was banned(ID: JJ.VEERAMUTHU) for piracy. I accepted that banning, because I came to know what was the mistake. Yes, I accept I am wrong. So I accepted that ban also.

But my second(ID: VEERAMUTHU.JJ) and third (ID: Trader Veera) ids banned without any reason.

I started a most useful thread on Learning AFL. That is also wasted.

I am not a spammer.

I don't post any tips.

When members are asking to setup scanning afls, I need their team viewer access for the setup.

They are asking help, even after giving full guidance in HELP document.

If you consider sharing of email ids for this purpose is scam.

Then at the time of banning please specify, you are banned because of sharing of email ids.

Bug: When clicking on my username, it redirect to another persons profile. Because my id contains a dot at end.

Thank you.

Is it legal to Trade from two accounts Simultaneously

Hi Seniors,
Is it legal if I have two trading accounts with different brokers and if I take the following orders @ almost same time:
Order 1: buy Nifty Future from Broker1 trading account AND
Order 2: Sell the same Nifty Future from Broker2 trading Account
Now,continue with the trend in one account and book the lose in another.
Profit and loss will depend upon Stop Loss.
It will be helpful if someone let me know the pros and cons of this.

Thanks,
-TraderTarun:)

Trendlines - The Best Indicator

The Best Trading System

Folks,
I am not sure if I am qualified enough to post anything is this privileged section as I consider myself as 'A trader, coming out of woods' and far way from perfection to enter the master league.

However, when I look back, I realized that I never had a trading coach or anyone who could have busted the myth about trading. I learned it the hard way (and it still continues). Internet was my best friend and Traderji was the first stop. Posting here something after a decade is like completing a full circle where someone might get benefit from my posts.

What the elders will readily agree with -

If the same trading system is given to 20 different people (consider all new or amateur traders) with same initial capital, following the 5% rule we will probably see 1 person surviving the continuous exposure to the market for a month. Rest will blow their accounts, sometimes mostly in a week time.

I do follow trading systems (indicators & setup) - but the real trading system which will work for you is - YOU, YOURSELF. ( I am talking about the secret script the Kung Fu Panda needed to become the Dragon Warrior)

On this thread, on every weekend, I will post something which helped me in a great way (and I actually had those documented). Whenever I go through a losing streak , I stop trading and refer to this comments to Reboot my psychological trading system.

Most of these are words of most successful traders around and we might have come across them most often on Twitter or Blogs, but let me share the same with you.

May be you find them useful.

The Best Trading System

Hello Everyone

Very nice place to lean trading methods.
I use to read post of Mr Saint, ST, Pride, Sunil and ....... others
These groups are really doing lots , to help people like me who want to learn trading like me.
Sharing and learning and earning etc, all are available at one place.

hi

hi Everyone

hi

Zerodha Pi Fails to login

I tried two approaches
1. Install Zerodha Pi on a virtualbox on Mac (Office Network)
2. Windows 10 Laptop (Home Network - Act Broadband Bangalore)

Both these options are failing to log-in. I talked to zerodha customer care, and they asked me to talk to Act broadband regarding opening some ports for Pi to work and they also said that on office network Pi will not work.

Anyone found a way so far ?

stop loss order..theory vs practical..very confusing

hi all i am a new bie here, however efforts i take to study stop loss orders i am not able to understand . for eg todag on hdfcsec i tried for sell stop loss

1) LTP 872.95
Price 871
trigget 874

this txn was rejected with message trig must be greater than equal to price..which price?

2) ltp 112.40
price 112
trigger 112.50

this got executed
so what was wrong in first case.

also in buy stop loss which i also tried error was trigg should be less than or equal to price

kindly advise

Trading Nifty without Nifty

In past few days I started trading Nifty without nifty future.
That is watching movement of Nifty but taking position
in one/two/three stocks of nifty instead of buying/selling nifty future.

I feel, I have better command on stocks rather than index
so lets see how it performs in coming future

This thread is only for the purpose of some betterment of trades
which I will post after execution and completion.
Usually I don't trade daily but still I am
Looking for a return of 50% in a year.

My past history has improved much, with better understanding for Index
My early trades of trading life were disasters...
then i got trapped in stocks calls providers net and lost much in their fees
Then begun my learning period and I started recovering my loss...

For past 2-3 years, I wanna take trading as my full time carrier
but didn't got that much confidence yet.
For my history, you can visit my thread in other forum by googling:
trading/216236

The auto trade should work at the pre-assigned time (eg.9.40, 2.40)
it should place bracket order both buy and sell together (eg. if script rate 100 at pre-assigned time it should post +5 buy order (that means when the script reach 105 the order will executed), the same time one sell order -5 also give to nest trader (means if the script reach 95 the sell order will be executed). for both side target 3pts and SL 1pts.

if anyone have this formula share this form

Breakout Pullback and Breakout Failure.

One set up failed and entry created for 2nd setup

My strategy for intraday trade

I am by nature an intraday trader, though i trade positional also, but my heart lays in intraday

REQIREMENTS

: 3M/5M (Chart W/O any indicator)

Addional req : quick fingers,alert mind,total concentration

TRADING INSTRUMENT : NF,BNF,scips with high vol and ATR

STRATEGY

for this strategy we require a support/resistence line/area,so we can take trade decision, based on price action around these line/area.

so, for support/resistence lines/area,i use,HIGH/LOW of first 3M/5M candle of the day

METHOD

1: concentrate only on two set up,
pull back and failed break out

2: wait for the price to break out either side of first candle

3: let the price come back to S/R line,(be alert, when price approaches the
S/R line)

PULLBACk
:A: let us assume the price gave a B/O,above the high of first
candle,then,
if price comes near to the S/R line and start reversing(in the
direction of break out),buy above the most recent bull candle,

STOPLOSS: is below the low of lowest bar prior to this bull
candle,or the low of this bull candle,if it is lowest, among the
recent candles

TARGET : it is a difficult part, there are so many variations of how and
where to, book profit, for simplicity i will tell what i was using initially book half the position at a predefined fix target and use TSL for the rest set the fix target as per your comfort, for me it was rs 1 for scrips upto rs300,rs 2,for scrips upto 500 and rs 5 for rest, 10 points for NF and 20 point for BNF

FAILED BREAKOUT

After breakout, if price comes back to S/R line, then either it pulls back, and
resume the pr direction,or it will break the S/R line and will carry on, negating the earlier break out.

ENTRY:entry is at the HIGH/low of the bar which closes ABOVE/ below the S/R
line

STOPLOSS: stoploss is above/below the pr pivot high/low

TARGET:as described earlier

Easiest, 1-step guide to calculate how much you can risk in a trade.

A trader doesn't need to know how much he's risking by using the risk formula everytime. For a large 50 or 100 crore trade, 28% risk and 29% risk are different but for a normal trader, it doesn't matter.

So, calculating the risk everytime is a bad idea. The easiest 1-step guide I use to calculate my risk is:

STEP 1: Enter a trade with 'x' capital.

If small to medium size movement worry you then you need to lower your overall risk(by cutting leverage or capital, moving stoplosses etc)

If a small to medium size movement against your trade makes you say "meh" then you must increase your risk(increasing leverage or capital)

Simply put, if you're too worried then you need to lower risk and if you are not worried at all then you must increase your risk. The ideal solution is to find a balance between them. It sounds really hard but it's easy.

Example: If trading 10 contracts makes you say 'meh' and 20 contracts gives you anxiety then find a balance between them ->around 13-15 contracts.

This always works for me.

The reason why you need to find a balance: You won't stick to your system if you're risking either too high or too low.

i) Too high risk worries you if a trade is going against you. Even though you might be right or wrong, you live in a perpetual state of worry. All of a sudden there will be that "one" trade where you loose more than you calculated. Eventually, you'll end up sad and depressed in one way or another ,especially when the trade goes against you ->you get out early -> trade goes in your initial direction. Yes, I know the feelz when the happens :annoyed:.

ii) Too low risk doesn't force you to stick to your system. If a trade is moving against you then you'll be like " it's okay! I am not risking much. Let's stay in" even when your system is screaming for you to get out of the trade. So, risking too low is also dangerous and you'll loose more than you think because the small movement keeps on adding up and becomes huge.

Isn't it surprising that you'll always loose more than you think in both cases? :clapping::clap::rofl::lol:

Best NSE Index Options Brokerage Plan

Hi,

I got a little tired of finding an alternate broker from the one that I am using currently. So I want to create a Poll to find out what others are using and its easy to come to a conclusion.

Please participate in the poll only if you are trading with that broker. Even if you have more than one account you could give the one that you prefer to trade.

I will be very thankful, if you could please elaborate on why you choose the brokerage plan. For some it may not be only the brokerage that matters. It could be the execution time, no downtime, ease of use, options strategy help, in built greeks could also count.

the poll values right now is for me based on bpr's excellent thread on brokerages.

Tax Audit

Hi Folks,

I trade in F&O. 98-99% in options.

For taxation purpose I am calculating Turnover as advised by Zerodha Versity, I consider them competent enough to follow their advise.

My Turnover for FY 2015-16 (AY 2016-17) is slightly more than 1 crore, i.e. turnover is 1.2 crore.

Profit is less than 8% of 1.2 Crore (WRT Sec 44AD)

My main questions are as follows:

1. In this condition is a Tax Audit absolutely compulsory?

2. If yes, what could be consequences for non-compliance ? (I mean i am a too small fish for IT guys, people have turnover of 100s & 1000s of crore, so would IT guys come after such a small fish?)

3. Tax Audit deadline has passed, what could be consequences even if I get a Tax Audit done at this juncture?

Please advise and should you think there is some other points that need consideration, please share your thought about that also.

TIA
TradeDaTrend

And here is the some of the text from ZV's site, that I found pertinent in this case.

An audit is required if –

Rs 2 Crores mark – Turnover for the year crosses the Rs 2 crores mark (was Rs 1 crore until FY 16/17)
Section 44AD – If the turnover is less than Rs 2 crore, and if profit less than 8% of turnover and total income exceeds basic exemption limit(An audit is not required if turnover is less than Rs 2 crores but your total income is within the taxable limit of Rs 2.5lks).

The method of calculating turnover is a debatable issue and what makes it a grey area is that there is no guideline as such from the IT department. One article of great help though is the guidance note on tax audit under Section 44AB by ICAI (Institute of Chartered accountants of India, the governing body for CA’s). The article on Page 23, Section 5.12 of this guidance note has a guideline on how turnover can be calculated. It says:

Non-speculative transactions (Futures and options)

For all non-speculative transactions, the article says that turnover to be determined as follows –

The total of favorable and unfavorable differences shall be taken as turnover
Premium received on sale of options is also to be included in turnover
In respect of any reverse trades entered, the difference thereon should also form part of the turnover.

So if you buy 25 units or 1 lot of Nifty futures at 8000 and sell at 7900, Rs.2500 (25 x 100) the negative difference or loss on the trade is turnover.

In options, if you buy 100 or 4 lots of Nifty 8200 calls at Rs.20 and sell at Rs.30. Firstly, the favorable difference or profit of Rs 1000 (10 x 100) is the turnover. But premium received on sale also has to be considered turnover, which is Rs 30 x 100 = Rs 3000. So total turnover on this option trade = 1000 +3000 = Rs 4000.

Basic question about margin

I am new to trading, so please bear with me. Thank you !

I bought some stocks on margin, and sold them off the same day. At the end of the day, the broker sent me a margin statement which said something like "Money owed by client = Rs.1234" etc. What exactly does this mean? I bought and sold the stock on margin within a few hours the same day. Do I still owe money?

Also I have been buying and selling on margin. Is there anything I should be aware of, other than the risk or larger losses? Mine is a very small account, and I have no income as I am a student. Would buying on margin etc. create problems from tax point of view, since quantity bought/sold on margin can be huge?

Thanks again.

Basic question about margin

Broker made HUGE buy/sell transactions from my account by "mistake"

I just noticed that there was a huge buy order from my account for 1 FnO contract. I had not placed this order, so I called my broker about this, who told me that the order had been placed by mistake. He squared off the position immediately, and luckily I did not lose much money (just about Rs.1000).

My question is what I can do now. Mine is a very small account, of less than 1lac rupees. I am a student with no income and do not file tax returns hence. How is this huge transaction (worth about Rs.10lacs, since this FnO contract was a large with with big margin/leverage) going to affect me? How should I take up this issue with the broker?

ANY other advice will be very much appreciated. I am very new to trading. Thank you !

Doubts on option Greeks

Hi All,

This thread will be mosty concentrated on opton Greeks, Firtst priority will be given to Capital Protection. One should expect realistic return of 2 to 4% pm.
We need proper risk management. Traditional strategies are Short Straddle,Short Strangle, Iron condor, iron Butterfly, ,Put ratio spread,Put bear spread. They have probability of profit but they are risky also. These are the [popular stratgies most people learn first.More than 80-90% use these strategies without knowing the risk of Vega and Gamma Short Straddle and Short Strangle, Naked put are most risky strategies of all have though they have good success rate. We should try to trade with low risky strategies, Most people know, just Delta, Theta . Theoritically every thinks if one adjust delta then everything is ok, It is not like that
we should keep in mind of very powerful Greeks Vega and Gama.
What we should and what we should not do while trading in options
I will try to answer doubts regarding your questions about option greeks
I will answer whenever I get free.
Some times I will post free strategies also.Just Paper for 3-6 months and observe the ajustment of greeks properly and their adjustment.
I will post many you tube links also which will be useful for improving knowledge about option greeks.Wishing you all a Happy and Safe Trading

invest 1% of equity per stock

Hello,

I set my inital equity= 50000 and I buy every month 5 stocks for 10000.

Now I would like to say that if I have more equity in the end of the month I would like to invest again 10000 per stock + 1% of the rest.

For example:
new equity = 100000 -> 50000 + 50000

50000: -> invest 1% of 50000 = 500

in total I would invest 12500 per stock this month.

Does anybody has an idea?

thanks in advance.

Hi there!

Hi
I am new to derivatives, hence have come here to gain some knowledge.

Hi there!

Equities vs Options, extraordinary returns ?

I have traded only Equities till now. I dont understand options at all. I have not traded futures also.

Catching 2% to 3% swings is normal in equities. But in Options the premiums swings like >10% or even 100%. Given the extraordinary returns, why dont many people trade option contracts ? Am I missing something fundamental here (apart from heavy downside)?

Example : Today Adaniports Nov 300CE opened at 4.95 and went to a high of 7.85. That is something like 40% gain....unheard of in equities.

Thank you for your time :)

Why no one is talking about copper?

Copper is "the" hot commodity to trade right now.

It moved around 30% in the last two weeks. It is slowly showing signs of slowing down but no bearish signs as of yesterday.

There's a lot of money made here. A lot! I'm surprised that no one is talking about it! Trading hot markets is the easiest way to get rich!

Ofcourse, Natural Gas is the second hot commodity, followed with gold and crude in 3rd and 4th places respectively.

Let me post a chart to show the magnitude of this massive movement. I've made this chart in the beginning of october. Posted an idea in trading view explaining the chart.

Taking the nation by surprise, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday night announced demonetisation of Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500 notes with effect from midnight, making these notes invalid in a major assault on black money, fake currency and corruption.

In his first televised address to the nation, Mr. Modi said people holding notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 can deposit the same in their bank and post office accounts from November 10 till December 30.

Live updates:

9:50 pm:Tomorrow Banks will be closed for withdrawing these notes from counters & ATMs, says Arundhati Bhattacharya

9:45 pm: We will work round the clock to ensure that customers have a smooth experience says SBI chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya. We will strive to restock ATMs at the earliest and make them operational, says SBI chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya

9:40 pm: We have just now been advised of the Govt's move to demonetise current series of Rs1000 &500 says Arundhati Bhattacharya

9:38 pm: There is no restriction of depositing your legal Rs. 500, Rs. 1000 notes for exchange. Any amount, as long as it is legal, can be exchanged.

9:37 pm: No security breach has been reported. New notes will be Braille compliant, says DEA secretary

9:36 pm: Within this period, cheques, debit cards, e-transactions will continue. All electronic transations on account of business firms, companies and individuals will continue in the new two days: DEA secretary
