Hi Simbhaoli Sugar - cmp 34.1.
I feel this stock is going to show some spectacular moves in the real soon and I foresee minimum 80% in the short term. short term wave (iii) is about to begin at any time. And since it is in Major wave (3), ideally we should expect more than 80%. Lets reassess as time goes by.

Position Limits

Hello,
I trade options basically on the ''buy'' side of puts and calls...

Lets take for example, SBIN option chain...

http://ift.tt/2bGpnSO

Lot size is 3000

For 270 call, I see that 2039 contracts were traded... I'm a direction biased trader so... I wanted to buy AS MANY CALLS AS POSSIBLE (after anticipating upward move in SBI... take this as an example...)

Say.. I wanted to buy 1000 calls on a particular day... My average fill price would be (Hi+Lo)/2

In this case of 270 call, (Hi+Lo)/2 is 10.3... So... I need 10.3*3000*1000 in my account to buy those many options... Rs. 3,09,00,000. (lets keep the ''bigness'' of the numbers aside for now and just focus on the concept at hand please :) )

My question is.... IS THERE ANY LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF OPTION CONTRACTS I CAN BUY ? (:D Dont say I'm limited only by the amount of money I have in my acc... ) Does NSE impose any limit on how many contracts an individual trader can buy ?

I dont belong to an institution/ pension fund/hedge fund/ etc../ etc.... I purely want to buy LOADS AND LOADS OF options as an individual trader....

That's the scenario.... please answer my question... I checked the nse website for position limits... but could not understand anything... its too sophisticated for me to understand... so... I humbly request some professional traders here to explain this...

Sincerely,
Sai.:)

RapidRupee

My broker Acumen has the software RapidRupee which is not available by default to traders. I have been promised a demo account to see if it has the technical indicators that I need.

Does RapidRupee have EMA overlayed over RSI and can I change the EMA and RSI parameters?

I shall update this thread if I find out that it does but I would like to have an earlier positive response!

Technical Growth Investing

I've started this thread to share a little about my investment process and I call the investment process: #TechnicalGrowthInvesting.

I look at revenue growth of companies along with a few other ratios to shortlist scrips that have predictable, medium term growth as a company.

I then use indicator based technical analysis to tell when to enter or exit such companies. When a company is facing a sustained fall in prices, I exit and when the companies have a sustained period of scrip price rise after a period of sustained fall in prices, I enter.

If I only invested on ratios, I would have no more than index level returns on my investments. With technical analysis, I can at least triple my returns because I would not be active in companies that are having their price corrected despite a growth in earnings and revenues.

As of now, I'm only willing to disclose that I look at revenue growth, low debt and efficient management/business models.

My earnings for FY 2017 are over 21% as of this post in late January 2017. I initially started this investment process in August 2015 and have been fine tuning it to the point that I started significantly outperforming the index around August 2016.

I may be able to help people who are willing to mix growth or value investing along with technical analysis to achieve returns that signifcantly outperforms the NIFTY or SENSEX.

NIFTYBEES trading strategy

This is a NOBRAINER trading strategy.
I cannot employ any type of analysis (technical/fundamental).
I cannot follow right scrip for trading because of my little knowledge and available time.
Hence I have chosen NIFTYBEES which follows NIFTY INDEX.

Buy NIFTYBEES when it breaks recent high, sell when it breaks recent low.
When selling, close NIFTYBEES and park your money in GOLDBEES.
My assumption is GOLD will not loss its value.

My initial capital will be Rs 100000.00.
Recent high/low for NIFTY is 8461/8327.
Nifty has already broken its recent high, hence I will park my money in GOLDBEES.
On 27.01.17 GOLDBEES closed at Rs 2645.00.
Hence I can buy 37 shares amounting Rs 97865.00
I have to wait for Nifty to form a new high, then go down, then come back for breaking this new high. Till then no action.

NIFTYBEES trading strategy

IRON CONDOR-option trading strategy

Iron condor option trading strategy is a non-directional trading strategy.
I will put forth my way of trading this strategy.
I am not well versed in option trading.
I cannot employ any type of(technical/fundamental) analysis.
I cannot monitor my positions keenly.
Still I want to meddle with stock market.

Observe option chain in NSE website.
Observe which strike prices (call and put) are having maximum open interest.
Those strike prices are to be treated as resistance and support level.
These are the strike prices I will short.
To hedge my short position I will go long with a strike price 100 points away.
I will not try to employ any adjustments, if my any position goes bad.

On 27th Jan closure option chain for NIFTY Feb 1 expiry.
Call side maximum OI was for 9000 strike and for Put 8400.
So I will treat the NIFTY will oscillate between these two prices.
So I will consider 9100 Call and 8300 Put for shorting and 9200 Call and 8200 Put for hedging.

The premium for these strike is as follows:
8300 PUT 37.45
8400 PUT 54.35
9000 CALL 28.00
9100 CALL 16.80

I will get credit of 28.00 + 54.35 = 82.35
I will spend 16.80 + 37.45 = 54.25
Net credit = 82.35 - 54.25 = 28.10
This is my profit, if nifty stays between 9000-8400.
If things go wrong my maximum loss
100.00 - 28.10 = 71.90

My intention is once I am able to retain at lest 70% of my profit I will close my position.
Let us see what happens.
I will trade only in NIFTY due to its high liquidity.
I will choose strike which is 30-45 days away, because it carries adequate time value.
As time lapses the option premiums goes on reducing.
A day may come I can close my position when premium is considerably low.
I will close my entire position in one go, no legging in at any stage.

I wish to update this diary once a week.
Due to my poor knowledge I may not be able to contribute more on this.
I welcome other knowledgeable friends to explain.
But I will stick to my this trading plan.

PyAlgoTrade - An excellent open source python library

Hi,

I came across PyAlgoTrade and have modified the existing program to automatically download instrument data as CSV from yahoo feed, run a predefined test and display the result. This all done in a single command from command line in linux.

python simple_moving_average.py SBIN.NS

This program should run on any environment (windows, mac etc) which has necessary python libraries.

The idea is to make a scanner that will be run once from the command line. It will scan all the predefined set of instruments' EOD data and look for a BUY / SELL signal. It could then login into Zerodha account and place a trade.

How sweet it would be?

Trading : what we think it is vs reality

Image says it all.

1) Your strategy plays a tiny part. Stop looking for miracle strategy/ indicators. Trust me we have all been there. :thumb: You can ask any pro trader if you want.

I personally use only 2.75 SD bollinger band. Never really needed anything else. When I first began trading, I used all types of combinations (macd+rsi, rsi+stoch+ macd, 10 and 20 SMA, ADX, accumulation distribution) and finally figured out that the key for success is not in the strategy.

2) Entries, exits and stoplosses also only play a minor role.

Stop looking for ideal trades. Buy low sell high is a myth. You really want to waste your extra energy fighting for those extra 5 pips? Good luck.

3) For God's sake, use a journal and review your trades everyday.

A lot of people stressed it 1000 times here. Please use a journal and review your trades. I can say that a difference between a professional trader and a normal trader lies in his usage of journal.

Continuous reviewing of your trades and improving is the key to success in this business.

Lazy and couldn't do it? Don't cry if you blow your account.:cool:

4) Trade management is the hardest part to master.

Before entering a trade, you have to calculate all the possible scenarios beforehand especially the worst case scenario. Be prepared for those sudden moves against your trade.

Always be ready to exit whenever market turns against you. Remove that mindset of "Will wait for a few candles and try to cut my losses later".

Trading is pretty simple guys. :clap: Better save the image and try to understand it. I'm sure that every pro trader agrees with that photo.

Gann vibration system

Helo...

Greetings....

to all forum members, traders, technical analysts.

I'm new to the forum and not to the subject of Technical Analysis. I am a job holder by profession in Hyderabad and having passion towards the stock market. That drives me to explore the subject of Technical Analysis. I too started basically how all the people will start with oscillators/trend indicators not only one....but a lot of indicators and methods which are based on derivatives of price. No wonder after some time I too failed, like many others. But my thirst was never ending.

Some years later, I followed a chat in a forum about GANN and his discoveries and his valuable research. Then, my curiosity to learn GANN methods became more.

Decided to learn GANN methods. But how...and where to start? This was a big puzzle...

No doubt. There is no help and support from other GANN practitioners in this stock market field. What I understood was you have to learn by yourself.

My next step...

I studied many books, downloaded the articles...literally I read every material/article on the web when I find just the name of four letter word of "GANN". Most of them were just a copied articles from GANN books, but some were really worthy and helped me to gain some basic knowledge. In my experience, if any one breaks the GANN code, they do not reveal it to the public. That's for sure....!

With studying.... researching.... observing... practicing... many years passed.... and brain was cluttered, at one stage I thought I failed to catch the point from GANN Theories, have to give up....but passion did not allow me to do so. Like this many years spent on studying and observing the charts, calculations, drawing the angles, square root methods, geometric, harmonic, natural law and solar methods....a lot of methods. Finally, could catch the point and discovered my :

1. Unique GANN vibration System methods.
2. Exclusive NIFTY Intraday Timings
3. MASTER TIME FACTOR

I will start posts one by one gradually :

First :

What is GANN Vibration System :

According to Gann :

"After exhaustive researches and investigations of the known sciences, I discovered that the law of vibration enabled me to accurately determine the exact points at which stocks or commodities should rise and fall within a given time."

"By knowing the exact vibration of each individual stock I am able to determine at what point each will receive support and at what point the greatest resistance is to be met."

(I have more attracted to the above point before my research.)

"Mathematics is the only exact science. All power under heaven and on earth is given to the man who masters the simple science of mathematics."

"There is nothing in the Universe but mathematical points of force" - Faraday

Based on the above inputs from GANN, I decoded the Gann Vibration system with Numbers, Cycles, Sacred geometry and discovered the numbers for National Stock Exchange (Mumbai, India) Stock Futures, Cash Stocks, Currency Derivatives, BSE Stocks and Commodity Futures like Crude oil, Natural Gas, Gold, Silver and Agri Commodities which are trading at MCX Exchange, Mumbai.

How to use Vibration Number :

How to calculate vibration number from stock high or low price :

Whenever the stock or Stock future high or low resultant comes at single digit number
and match with my discovered GANN vibration number that high or low will act as reistance
or support for that stock or stock future.

If stock or stock future high price resultant match with my GANN vibration number you will
go short and Stop loss as the high of that single number resultant price bar.

(ex : stock/future price : 1234.25 you add all the numbers and you get resultant with
a single digit number i.e., = 1+2+3+4+2+5 = 17 = 1+7 = 8 is the single resultant
number)

Likewise, If stock or stock future low price resultant match with my GANN vibration number
you will go long and Stop loss as the low of that single number resultant price bar.

When you have made decent profits you should book profits otherwise you may wait for
GANN vibration number at High if it is buy.

When you have made decent profits you should book profits otherwise you may wait for
GANN vibration number at low if is sell/short.

Another technique for this GANN vibration number system is If you are in a short position
in a future and after prolonged downside the low price resultant comes at vibration
number, and you have not booked profits at that time and you are expecting more
downside to book the profits. In that case, if the 30mt time frame candle closes
above the low of that vibration number candle you must exist your position. If you
have a steel of nerve you may try to go long at stop of that vibration low.

If you are a not a Intraday trader and you have short position in futures a close above the vibration low price bar on EOD basis you must close the position, reverse for long side.

In another method, if the vibration number high or low broken you may act accordingly which side it has broken and initiate trade that side, ultimately opposite as Stop loss.

In this system EOD close above the GANN Vibration Number high or low number most important.

As per best of my knowledge I have explained how to use my Gann Vibration system.

I will demonstrate my GANN VIBRATION SYSTEM working to readers in the next post.
==================

NIFTY INTRADAY TIMINGS using GANN ANALYSIS :

I will give Nifty Intraday Timings for next trading day. Take a note of Intraday timings and watch...what is happening in the given timings...you may get an idea and you will know yourself how to use the timings.

I’m using Intraday Timings from Gann Analysis for my use.

If I get the following timings as per Gann Analysis 10:30/1:00/2:15 expect the change in trend or consolidation. Basically what I look from these timings are at 10:30 am on 30 mt timeframe look to buy or sell of that bar HIGH or LOW. If buy triggeres low of that bar acts as SL, reverse for sell. Sometimes you may get big moves with small stop loss, some times you may hit your small stop loss.

Scenerio 1 : If 10:30 am bar triggers buy then look for halt/change at 1:00 pm bar and it's the time to book some profits. If the 1:00 pm bar low takes out go short with 1:00 pm bar high as stoploss.

Scenerio 2 : If 10:30 am bar triggers sell then look for halt/change at 1:00 pm bar and it's the time to book profits and 1:00 pm bar high taken out it's time to go long.
====

Here I will update NIFTY INTRADAY TIMINGS for the readers. Please watch these timings on NIFTY in real time and decide at your own, what you observe and which is the best method to suit you to trade with these timings.

Need Help For Super Simple AFL (Find Higher High Higher Low and...)

Wish somebody help me to create this AFL, it's actually very simple. I just have no programming background at all.

I want AFL that can scan and generates list of stock that have one of these criterias:

1. Today candle creates higher low higher high candle compared to yesterday's candle (shadow counted as high/low too, not only the body)

OR

2. Today candle is inside yesterday's candle

For clear explanation, I already attached the picture.

Yes, this is for searching stock purpose only, not for making buy/signal sell. It definitely will save my time rather than manually check the stock one by one. There are 500 stocks on my country! :)

I will use the AFL at end of day after market closed of before market open.
Really appreciated all the help. Thanks in advance

Wipro-Bullish engulfing pattern followed by hammer_TA Post_1

Hi All,

I am planning to post the analysis of the trades here (starting today) to get feedback from the experienced members. I will be doing this as and when I get interesting picks for swing or positional (For Intraday, I still find it difficult to post real-time)

My first pick is Wipro, I am attaching a screenshot of the analysis. Though I have mentioned the target in this one, in future it will mostly be the strategy and not target, stop loss no.'s etc

Also please note that Wipro's results are tomorrow and as a precaution, I will not be taking any position until results are announced.

Best broker for FAST Settlement...

Hello...

I'm using Zerodha for options trading right now... They take around 2 days to make the profits "withdrawable"... It kind of feels they're taking long time for settlement...

Anybody knows a fast settling broker that adds cash in to your trading account instantly so that I can withdraw it on the same day ?

Say... Exit at profit at 10 AM

Withdraw Profits on the same day to linked bank account.

Withdraw cash from the bank via atm in the evening.... :thumb:'

Which is the best broker in this situation ? From my own experience... Zerodha does not do what I expected... especially for options trading profits... Don't know about equity/futures trade much....

How is your experience with other brokers ? :confused:

Nifty Future Strategy with 13000 Margin

Hi Friends,

This is the best strategy I found till now.

Investment Required to place trade : 1 LAC
Margin used: 13000
Zerodha: http://ift.tt/2kiEbOW

How to trade:
Between 3:00PM - 3:25 PM
Buy current Month Future
Sell Next Month Future

On next Day morning 09:30AM-10AM
Exit both positions at same time.

These positions will exit from your normal position but it will remain active as your intraday position. So, you can see intraday profit/loss into your account.

let it move for whole day wherever it go..

@3PM-3:15PM
If one position is in 30/50+ points profit then Buy/Sell Back the profitable trade. And don't do anything with lossing position. Let it go.

Now we will have only one position open for next day. We will start another position on next day morning..

But in this single side open position we have risk of loss.
So, If you are long in future buy same month ATM/ITM put 2 lots.
If you are short in future buy same month ATM/ITM Call 2 lots

It will save us from big open range..

On next day morning you will be almost at 0 profit-loss. May be a small loss because of Option time decay or something else. But it will be around 2-5 points. Not more than that.

Now @9:30 - 10AM
Exit all your positions and no trade for that day.. Repeat the process on next day..

Note => Do not trade in current month if expiry is in 1/2 weeks. Go for next and next+1 month in that case.

Nifty Future Strategy with 13000 Margin

Nifty Future Strategy with 13000 Margin

Hi Friends,

This is the best strategy I found till now.

Investment Required to place trade : 1 LAC
Margin used: 13000
Zerodha: http://ift.tt/2kiEbOW

How to trade:
Between 3:00PM - 3:25 PM
Buy current Month Future
Sell Next Month Future

On next Day morning 09:30AM-10AM
Exit both positions at same time.

These positions will exit from your normal position but it will remain active as your intraday position. So, you can see intraday profit/loss into your account.

let it move for whole day wherever it go..

@3PM-3:15PM

All comments are welcome.

Slowest Broker Platform

Guys,

Need 2 Infos:
  1. In case you have trading accounts with multiple brokerage houses or trading platforms - which is the slowest or showing Lag even say by 1-2 secs on the ticks comparted to others.
  2. Is there any brokerage houses in India which allows overnight SL, regardless market gaping up or down (Like guranteed SL of 20 pip based on your previous days SL at market close)?

Thanks.

Experimenting with small trading account

I want to try something new this year and want to take a break from my original account. I'm sick of hearing beginners and experts alike say that it's impossible to grow a small account into a very large one. :annoyed: So I want to show them that it's possible as long as you know what you're doing in the market.

So, this is my goal for 2017. I will turn a small account into a very large one (atleast 1000% growth) using some experimental techniques that are sustainable for the short term. I have some theories that will help.

I will start pretty soon in one or two weeks. I will eventually update this thread with my strategy, system and the markets I chose to trade. Don't worry, I will explain every question you have in your mind. :thumb: This is not a journal. I don't explain each and every one of my trade but I will provide a daily summary of my trades and explain what happened during the day as a whole.

This is not a joke. I'm pretty serious about this. Even if I blow up my account, I'm sure that I can learn a lot by experimenting. So it's a win-win situation for me.

You can always check out my blog that I linked below.

Fastest (Bank) Nifty Options order ever executed

Hi,

I am in search of a platform that could execute (Bank) Nifty options quickly. Can you please post the time taken by your platform for executing your order. Accompanied proof for the same (Server Log, Screen Shot, Order No.) is highly appreciated.

I hope after some time we will clearly know which broker or platform is advantageous for us and which broker is sleeping with our orders in their server
:clap:

Learning AmiBroker

Hi,

I am Learning AFL and need some help.

Can someone guide me for the following:
I am calculating Opening 15 minute High and Low. And want to trade rest of the day using those values. But in Day 2 and so on, for first 15 minutes, these variables value should be 0. Currently, it is retaining previous day's values. How can I reset it?

Here's part of my AFL:
TimeFrameSet( in1Minute );

tn = TimeNum();

ObservationStartTime = 91559;
ObservationEndtime = 92959;

StartBar = tn == ObservationStartTime;
EndBar = tn == ObservationEndtime;

Opening15MinHigh = ValueWhen( EndBar, HighestSince( StartBar, High ) );
Opening15MinLow = ValueWhen( EndBar, LowestSince( StartBar, Low ) );

Please guide how can I achieve this?

Thanks

Future versus Option trading

I am here to learn option trading.But my query is what is the benefit of trading future over option?
is options trading really that profitable?
why many trader choose option trading?

Future versus Option trading

I need EMA in the RSI indicator

Hello,

I currently use Sharekhan's Trade Tger for charting and they have EMAs for RSI and CCI.

Which charting software has adjustable parameters of RSI (default is 14 but I need it to go up to 200) and has EMA line in RSI?

I tried Icharts. They have adjustable parameters but no EMA line in their RSI indicator!

I need EMA in the RSI indicator

What are threads per analysis window?

I'm looking for a software that can help me display 5 indicators with varying parameters (RSI default is 14, I want to adjust that number upto 200).

AMIBroker is the most recommended software but are does the RSI indicator have EMA's the way Sharekhan's Trade Tiger's RSI and CCI does?

When I looked at the purchase page for AMIBroker, it said that the basic version has 2 threads per analysis window, what does that mean?

Hi

Your view on SAS Online?

Hi guys I'm thinking to open my first trading account with SAS online. Although I personally love Zerodha, the Rs.9/trade & Unlimited pack of SAS Online seems bit suitable for my trading style. So whats your view about SAS for intraday trades, trading platform, ease of use etc?

And one more thing, SAS Online provide NEST platform. Is the charts (with 1,5,15 min interval) and basic indicators (like VWMA, EMA, BOLL etc) available in Nest or do I need to subscribe "Nest Plus" for the charting facility? Is there any registration fee or annual fee for Nest Plus platform?

Thank you.

RKSV Upstox on iPhone/iPad

This thread is for iPhone/iPad users of RKSV Upstox.

Upstox is an excellent app, but need a bit of debugging, basic feature additions, as well as bells & whistles ;)

I will be documenting mostly issues faced, besides feature upgrades I think necessary in this thread.

Other iPhone/iPad users of Upstox feel free to chip in please. Make sure you indicate instrument being traded, as issues faced for one exchange may not be present for another. Will add those to the list too :)

Hopefully @rksv will monitor and address issues highlighted here.

Thank you

Will maintain a running list of unresolved issues in this first post itself, and will mark them as resolved (:thumb:) once @rksv releases a fix which I have tested and find has been addressed/resolved:
  • Issues to be resolved:
    • :clap: When you hit the modify order button for the pending order, the qty will show as one in the modify screen (instead of five) & if you submit it without correcting it back to 5, then the modified order will get submitted as one qty instead of five qty. (Crudeoil, MCX)

  • Tweaks Requested:
    • :clap: Default the order history screen to 'Open Positions' instead of the current 'All positions'. Think of it, from a trader's perspective. What a trader will use the most is the 'open orders' screen to constantly modify open positions basis price movement or want to see whether the order he has placed has reached the exchange and is open. This is the only place any action can be taken, 'all' & 'complete' are informational only. (Crudeoil, MCX)
    • :clap: In Open Positions (within Order History) can trigger price be displayed ? Currently when there are multiple open orders pending, it is difficult to figure out an order to modify. (Crudeoil, MCX)

  • Functionality Requested:

Hello Everyone!

Hi.. This is Bhaskar from Hyderabad... opened an account with zerodha recently..will start trading soon..
i recently quit my job from wipro technologies for some personnel reasons...decided to take the plunge in fulltime trading..

regarding my trading experience, started trading in 2012...lost around 2.6lks over the span of 1.5years...read everything i could find on technical trading..books,videos,forums etc..backtested..practiced paper trading for sometime..got some confidence..again traded with 2lks account without much success..mostly breakeven.. couldnt take all the trades per my system as my job didn't let me trade fulltime..

again starting trading soon with 5lks...my goal is to make 100% profit on my capital with 1%risk per trade in next 12months.. id like to compound and dont want to withdraw.. will trade Nifty/Banknifty futures intraday using price action only..lets see how things panout..

i do have an account with traderji..but never posted anything or interacted with anyone...mostly a silent spectator.... i always find it hard asking for help which inturn making my learning curve steep...i decided to change that which infact is one of my newyear resolutions..:)

i dont know if i can add any value to the forum with my much little knowledge..looking forward to your support..will try to be a good forum member..

thankyou all..

Find all close price between two dates

Hello,
I want to find all closing price between two dates e.g. 2016-01-26 and
2016-02-26

My thought is to use for loop

D[1] = "2016-07-26";
D[2]= "2016-07-27";
D[3]= "2016-07-28";
.
.
.

for (i=1;i<3;i++) {

"Close value at (or before) " + D[i]+ " is " + Lookup( Close, _DT(D[i] ), -1 );
}

But it seem not work, any help for advanced thanks

Hi!

Nifty Future volumes shrinking fast, out of top 20 soon?

For past few years more traders shifting to Index options due to various reasons... like heavy transaction taxes, high STT, high Stamp duty in future segment
After launch of weekly options things are getting worst..
Nifty Volume is shrinking faster...

Today is not a typical range bound day...But Nifty 40pts and Bank Nifty 200 pts one way move..

Still probably first time Nifty and Bank Nifty on last two spots of Top 20 F&O list.. Almost out numbered by weekly options..

Soon we may not see Nifty/Bank Nifty on Top 20 list..

IMO.. High volume Nifty/Bank Nifty future traders can face liquidity crisis soon..Good for Index option traders.. better liquidity and big fast move,, fast reversal.. as well as more gap up-down possible...

Those who trade Index f&o.. Lets discuss various outcome of this new era..Options kicks out futures from Top 20 list..
I never saw Nifty Future out of Top 20 list..Average volume is decreasing fast...

Today Nifty was Last Boy in the Class..

FEEDBACK: Interacive Broker for International Trading

Does anyone on this forum uses IB India for trading in International market?

Wanted to know general feedback on this. How are the commissions, slippage, etc.

On its page it mentions minimum brokerage of USD 10,00 per month. Not sure if its a typo or actual figure.

Any feedback will be welcome.

Selling naked options

Hi all.
Here i am new to this topic.One thing is confusing me for long time & before venturing into this i want to clarify myself that's why i opened this thread.
Of course i know that selling naked options is itself very dangerous for new bees like me.But i will use this instrument only for hedging futures.Before that i want to have clear picture for all things.
I know there are so many veterans here, so i request all of them to guide new comers like me.
I would like to know how to calculate profit/ loss by selling options.
I know that i gather premium lets assume it is 6.5 by selling option at strike price 300.

Case 1) If i would square up my position before expiry date then how to calculate profit/ loss.suppose i sold call at 300 strike & booked profit at 200 .How much is the profit for me? Means 300-200=100 only? Or does it includes premium also that i get by selling call?
Case 2)After expiry if i have not squared up the position & strike price value reduced to 200 from 300.
How much profit i will get ? full premium value at that stage?
When will i incur loss? & at what stage?
Regards.

NIFTY positional trade practice

Hello All,

This is my first venture in to positional trading. I have been planning to do this along side my intraday trades for quite some time. So I am starting this thread to practice paper trading for my positional trades real time along with my intraday live trading.

Focus is on =

1. To see if I am able to execute the positional trades live along with my real intraday live trades.
2. To learn the various aspects of positional trades by participating in real market with virtual money (RM, trade management and over night risk)
3. To test my positional strategy and improve further.

Detailed Planning

Trading contract - NIFTY
Trading Instrument - NIFTY options.

My knowledge on options so far - buy calls/Sell puts when market rises and buy puts/sell call when market falls. I have no idea about option strategies. The reason I am choosing option over futures are - I believe there will be mnay ways to trade a market instead of simply LONG/SHORT on future derivatives, and benefits of option writing in sideways market. Since I have no ideas on options strategies, sometimes my positions will be naked option, and sometimes with multiple legs. But i will use this experience to document my learning, and create a concrete strategy.

Trading Strategy - Same as my intraday trading strategy, that is trade the trading timeframe's trend (minor trend) wrt higher timeframe trend (Intermediate trend). Decide the trend, trade direction and trade areas from NIFTY spot chart and use options as an trading instrument.
Trading timeframe = 30M
Intermediate timeframe = Daily
Indicators used = 21 EMA (to give visual trend of the timeframe)

Simple stop logic

All - novice here and as usual getting half answers from amibroker tech support, back and forth, back and forth. Since the trailing stop they provided in 2013 apparently doesn't work in the new version, I asked them for simple profit target and static stop loss and they came back with;

ApplyStop( stopTypeProfit, stopModePoint, 6 * TickSize, 1 );
ApplyStop( stopTypeLoss, stopModePoint, 5 * TickSize, 1 );

Of course I get error because there is no 'sell' logic there...I remember somewhere, who knows where, something like stop=sell=...but I can't find it now. Can somebody knowledgeable just save me a bunch of work? This should backtest after this and I can stop hounding the world,

PB

Explore Daily candle in a Weekly candle - Help

Can someone help me write an AFL for the below condition?
Condition (when AFL is 'Explored') to filter and display SCRIPS:
(i) Weekly ROC % >= 25%
(ii) The same Weekly candle needs to have at least one Daily ROC % as an Upper Circuit*.
* Range has to be:
a) 5% => 4.90 - 5%
b) 10% => 9.50 - 10%
c) 20% => 18 - 20%

Note:
Invalid UC candle:
Candle ranged to 14% (UC for the day: 20% range) and EOD closed at 10%, then not a UC candle.

Valid UC candle:
Candle ranged to 10% (UC range) and EOD closed at 9.60%, then consider this as UC candle (in this thread scenario alone).

Karvy Stock Broking's Reversal of 50% brokerage issue

I opened a Freedom Account in Apr'14 with Karvy with an attached benefit of "Reversal of 50% brokerage amount every month". Everything was fine until Karvy informed me that the said benefit would stop from Oct'16 and that I can get it provided I use their mobile application. Screen shot of their email dt 10 Aug'16 enclosed (https://scontent-sit4-1.xx.fbcdn.net...20&oe=590FE636)

With "Reversal of 50% brokerage amount every month", my net brokerage was getting slashed by 50%. But by stopping "Reversal of 50% brokerage amount every month", my brokerage has virtually doubled.

This amounts to nothing but a monopolistic trade and an arm-twisting tactic.

My mail to the backoffice and to Compliance Officer has remained unanswered without telling me the reason why a client must use mobile app. and not desktop app.

I caution people to get every special condition or benefit duly incorporated in the agreement with any broker (especially Karvy) clearly mentioning the validity period, if any.
